Being a drummer and an artist it was only a matter of time before John Douglas combined the two. It started in high school when he began painting his bass drum heads. It quickly escalated to re-covering his drums in chrome contact paper while painting dryer vent hoses red and adding them to his kick drums telling everyone they were “air-cooled” . It wasn’t long before he was taking the drums completely apart and painting the shells all in an effort to “make my drums look cool and unique”. Soon other drummers were taking note and began asking him to paint their drums. And so it started….
Some 30 years later he has painted, customized and modified drums and guitars for some of the biggest bands in the world. Including Aerosmith, Mana, Pantera, Damageplan, Creed, Alter Bridge, Slash, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Kid Rock, Van Halen, Bon Jovi, and ZZ Top.
